So it's been a while since our first pregnancy announcement and we're sure many of you have been wondering how things have been going. We're doing great, we've been trying to enjoy every moment of just being pregnant and not getting caught up in all the stress that can sometimes come with preparing for such a life-changing event. (I'm sure all you brides now how that is!) It's been a whirlwind - getting settled into our new office, emptying out our office in our apartment and staring at the empty room trying to imagine how it's going to be when there's an actual baby in there. We decided not to do anything to the room until we found out the gender of the baby, leaving it as a blank slate that we could completely make our own for our little boy or girl.
Last week, shortly after we both happened to turn 30 - we got the best birthday present we could ever hope for. (For those of you that don't know, our birthdays are four days apart. For four days of the year, Rob is officially married to an older woman). It was the day after Rob's birthday and we headed over to the hospital for an ultrasound that would take over 40 minutes. It was our chance to see pretty much every aspect of our little one. We saw the heart beating, the lungs, the spine, all ten toes, all ten fingers, and one cute little face. Laying there watching our baby move around while Rob held onto my hand - it was probably just as emotional a moment as when we said our vows to one another. Both of would have been completely content sitting there for the rest of the day just staring at that screen. It was almost bittersweet when the ultrasound came to an end, knowing that it will be many more weeks before we actually get to see the real thing in person.
This is all especially true since now we know what we've having. We've been able to start pulling together the decorations for the room, narrow in on which section of adorable baby clothes to gush over and just plain get excited. Somehow it all seems that much more real now. In a few months, we will have…. A LITTLE BOY!! :) Without a doubt, we would have been absolutely thrilled either way, but I gotta say there is something really special about having a son. Especially since Rob has already started trying to teach him all sorts of photography and tech things, and the baby's room - all airplanes and travel! We can't wait to see it all come together. But even more - we can't wait to see HIS little face in person.
Just over 19 weeks to go! :)
And since we're always all about sharing the little details that make things extra special - here's a bit of a peek into how we'll be decorating his room.
Once we saw this, we knew it was going to be the very first purchase we made if we found it we were having a boy. It's like someone climbed inside Rob's brain and made the perfect mobile for his son.
This was totally up my alley. If you don't already know - I like to collect vintage suitcases and typewriters. So a mirror with typewriter keys? Yes, please!
And since no baby post is complete without a picture. He's our little guy, sucking his thumb. The ultrasound lady said he's a very cute baby. We've decided to believe that she doesn't say that to everyone! :)
